I would like to thank the Committee, and everyone who made my first Championship Judging appointment such an enjoyable and memorable day. I was extremely relieved to have the assistance of the highly regarded and extremely knowledgeable stewarding duo of Mr & Mrs Donovan which allowed me to concentrate on the job in hand knowing they would have everything else under total control. I would also like to thank the exhibitors for accepting my decisions in such a sporting manner and with such a quality entry quite a few deserving bitches went without a card.

I strongly believe that our breed should be able to do a days work and their gait should be without restriction or compensation when watched from any angle. Being bought up with and working with horses until I started showing dogs some twenty years ago; I was always taught that any compensation in movement is due to either construction or injury.

I also believe our breed should show the desire to move with purpose and drive, which should not be misinterpreted as the desire to chase the dog in front. Sound movers are far less likely to gain injury or breakdown, allowing them to do the job they were bred for. I was extremely pleased to find all the above attributes in my CC winner.

MINOR PUPPY BITCH 11 (1ab)

1st, BPB, Miss M Richman & Mr J Gatehouse’s SHAMROTTS MS DYNAMITE, 8 months old, raw and immature however very promising. Moved out straight and true coming and going and held herself together well on the move.

2nd Mrs & Miss Shaves, Mr & Mrs Kelly & Miss S Fenwicks’s RONMAL DESIGNED FOR ESTALEA, 7 months old, balanced angles allowing excellent front extension. Held her topline well on the move. Took her time to settle but shows signs of great potential.

PUPPY BITCH 6 (2)

3rd Mrs J Benstead’s CARSAL FENNELLA.

JUNIOR BITCH  13 (4)

1ST  Mr J Bond’s  ALLENDRIA DARK JEWELL AT KANESBROOK, 12 months old. Lovely shape with great ring presence, but not necessarily what we are used to seeing in gait, so much front extension but equally matched by extremely powerful rear drive, could not be faulted coming and going, when she matures she will be able to put her immense power to best use to become a very powerful and effective trotter and I am sure she will follow in her sires footsteps and take many top honours.

2nd Mr T Owen & Mrs K Marshall’s PATRAGARTH FANTASY GIRL, 12 months old, another very promising young bitch. Sweetest expression with a real glint in her eye. Excellent outline and stance with good forchest. Positive and un-restricted gait and lovely rear drive, held her topline well with correct footfall in profile.

3rd Mrs & Miss G Halliday's JUFFTHER MAGIC TRICKS.

YEARLING BITCH  9 (2)

1ST  Mr A & Mrs J Moran-Potter’s  SUNDRIFTERS MASKERADE, 18 months old, another that has a great future, very typy bitch having all the breed essentials. Un-exaggerated and purposeful gait, so straight and true coming and going with perfect footfall, held her topline both in profile and on the move. Should mature into a lovely adult.

2nd Mr SA Dean, Mrs E Dunhill & Mrs A Wylie’s FANTASA ROCK IN MOTION, 18 months old. Very eye catching bitch, exuberant with loads of attitude, just as she should be. Moved cleanly coming and going with powerful rear action. Held her topline well in profile.

POST GRADUATE BITCH  18 (3)

1st Mr D Moran’s JHAVA IT HAD TO BE YOU, 2.5 years old, another very typy bitch with lovely head and clean outline in profile. Balanced angles throughout which allowed her to move effortlessly round the ring holding her topline at all times. Very attentive to handler and never stopped showing.

2nd Miss L Morris’ KEDERAY COCO CHANEL, 3 years old, strongly made bitch but still retaining her feminine qualities, correctly proportioned with deep chest and short strong loin. Powerful hindquaters producing sound and true movement.

3rd Mrs & Miss G Halliday's DABRACO CHARLOTTES WEB OF KYLEASH.

LIMIT BITCH 17 (4)

1ST, BCC & BIS, Miss K Ryder’s HICHELMER MAKE NO MISTAKE, Well there was no mistake here that this 3 year old bitch is in such superb condition and one of the fittest I have had the pleasure of going over. I judged her as a puppy and loved her then and I am definitely not disappointed now that she has matured. Strong yet very feminine head with good width between well placed ears. Darkest eyes, deep stop and correct head plains. Medium sized cobby body with deep strong loin, enough bone and balanced angles fore and aft. There is no flashiness about her but once she started moving I found it hard to take my eyes off of her. Her gait is so positive, harmonious and unrestricted producing a very efficient trotter who could easily keep going all day, coming and going she could not be faulted either. A credit to her owner and the breed.

2nd Mr TJ & Mrs PD Borne’s DORTMUND FAME ‘N’ FORTUNE AT TREVEARL, 2.5 years old. Marvellous overall impression of balance and proportion on the stand. Very sound mover holding her outline at all times and straight and true coming and going. Maturing nicely and I am sure she will be up for top honours in the not too distant future.

3rd  Mr D & Mrs V Griffiths’ ABUKLEA I BELIEVE I CAN FLY TO DAVIK.

OPEN BITCH  12

1st & Res BCC, Messrs A & J Doyle & Miss T Kenny's HANBAR ELEKTRA AT ROTTSDALE, 3.5 yrs old and so much my type in shape and form. Strong powerful bitch with so many attributes that epitomises the Rottweiler to me. Plenty of bone and substance complemented by balanced angles throughout, powered round the ring with so much drive and animation, unlucky to come up against the limit bitch today and I have no doubt she will gain her crown shortly.

2nd Mr & Mrs NJ Davis’ WELSHMOOR ANWEN AT KAISHAROTTS, 4 years old. The cleanest and most feminine of outlines with excellent reach of neck and enough forechest. Balanced front and rear angles and well muscled second thigh producing lovely reach and drive in profile and totally sound coming and going.

3rd   Mr D & Mrs S Lambert’s CH SEITTOR ASSUME THE POSTION J.W. SH CM.

VETERAN BITCH 6

What a pleasure to judge 6 such wonderful bitches that are a credit to their owners and the breed. Most of who have passed their excellent breed attributes onto the offspring.

1st & BVIS Mr P & Mrs G Adam’s JHAVA TRIBUTE OF CHANCE, 9 years old and the dam of 1st in PGB & 4th in OB. Still retaining a beautiful clean outline and shape on the stand and definitely not looking her age. Moved cleanly up and down with perfect footfall in profile. A pleasure to go over.

2ND Mr & Mrs M Jones’ RADCARA LA BIANCA AT WELSHMOOR JW, 9.5 years old and also the mother of 2nd in OB and you can definitely see where her daughter gets her super precise movement from. So attentive to her handler and enjoying herself so much. Still in wonderful condition with the cleanest of outlines on the stand and move, if it weren’t for her greying muzzle you would question her age.

3rd Mr P Perks’ SHUVIO FOLLOW MY DREAM.
